Women’s and Gender Studies

Dr. Boutaghou is currently Assistant Professor in Modern Languages and Women’s and Gender Studies at Florida International University. From 2008 to 2010 she was an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is the author of Occidentalismes: Romans historiques postcoloniaux et identités nationales au dix-neuvième siècle (Paris, Honoré Champion, 2016). The book offers a new approach in the fields of comparative literature and postcolonial studies through poetical and textual perspectives on postcolonial literatures in 19th century Australia, Bengal, Egypt, and Mexico. Her second book, in progress, focuses on plurilingual women writers in postcolonial contexts in Egypt, Bengal, Mauritius, and Algeria. She has published extensively in comparative literature, Francophone, Arabic, and Anglophone postcolonial studies.
