Girls’ Club and the Society of the Four Arts invite artists, curators, performers and other creatives to attend this brown bag lunch talk with Sharon Louden, artist and editor of Living and Sustaining a Creative Life, Friday, May 1 from Noon – 1pm.
Published by Intellect Books in 2013 and distributed by the University of Chicago Press, Living and Sustaining a Creative Life is a 224-page book of made up of factual, plain testimonials of how artists sustain their creative livings. Essays are included from 19 New York-based artists, 19 from the rest of the country, and 2 European artists and give insight into how each artist keeps up their creativity through the ups-and-downs of the economic cycle.
The Brown Bag Lunch Talk will discuss issues such as what is “success” to an artist today, what are keys to sustain creativity, the differences between what is perceived as successful for an artist and what the reality is today. An open dialogue and conversation is encouraged. Artists of all stages are welcome to attend.
Guests are welcome to to bring lunch, snacks or sharable treats. Refreshments and coffee provided. Free parking will be available at the adjacent parking lot, please avoid walking on the grass.
